4 Victims Shot at Howe Park Sacramento - Large Unauthorized Party Erupts in Gunfire





Late Saturday evening, an unsanctioned event of several hundred people at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento turned violent when between 20 and 25 shots echoed through the area as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were working to breaking up the gathering.

The Incident

Just after 6:30 PM, the SCSO got reports regarding persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. An additional caller mentioned a possible altercation and people running from the area.

Aerial units was deployed and surveyed the area from above but was unable to locate any ongoing altercation.

At the same time, hundreds of individuals had collected at the park for what deputies referred to as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave using public address systems.

As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, upwards of 20 gunshots were fired — sending hundreds of people running in panic.

The Victims

Four individuals — a woman and three men, all young adults in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. Each of the four victims check here was in stable condition. Metro Fire Sacramento assisted with on-scene medical triage at the incident scene.

Scene Details

The shooting took place along the Cottage Way side of the park in the vicinity of the Home Depot at the website 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The Home Depot was locked down for a period of time. Further shell casings were found along Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fence bordering the Home Depot — showing gunfire directed south from along Cottage Way toward the store. read more CSI investigators and detectives processed the scene throughout the night.

Arrests and Detentions

Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a vehicle connected to the shooting — a Kia — was pulled over in the Solano County area with four suspects detained. read more SCSO deputies were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning.
